In many food production processes powdered thickeners often have to be mixed
into base liquids: Pectins for hot or cold solutions, modified starches, guar gum
and carob powder are some typical examples.
Applications where thickeners / pectins etc. are processed:
fruit juice and beverage production
jam manufacture / fruit preparation
delicatessen and ketchup production
sauce manufacture
milk processing
The common feature of all these raw materials is that they are difficult to dissolve
and tend to coagulate because of their extreme hygroscopicity
Advantages of the described method:
This system reduces the mixing time by approx. 90% (from about 45
min. to max. 5 min.) (experimental values)
The pectin yield is increased by up to 10%, resulting in a 10 % saving of
raw materials (experimental values)
A possible increase in concentration reduces storage and transporta
tion costs. (Solutions of up to 20 % are possible depending on the
pectin type)
The system can be connected by flexible lines to each tank as required.
